What do we mean by two tone gold? Many stores use a plating system to add white gold accents to a yellow gold base. The plating does last quite awhile since it's rhodium, a platinum family metal, but does eventually come off or comes off in the sizing/polishing process. Our two tone rings actually have separate pieces of gold or platinum where labeled, so the white metal is solid metal as is the yellow.
