Penny Beaman, Owner
Penny grew up a Nebraska farm girl. She and Dan married in 1979 while still in college and graduated from Sioux Falls University with a degree in English/Education and a minor in Theatre. She keeps Dan organized as much as that's possible and also substitute teaches in several towns in the area. You'll see her in the store occassionally and she takes delight in finding the right thing for you. She has her own style and so undertands how yours is unique to you .She and Dan have 3 kids; one a jeweler/goldsmith, one working in Ames, and one a recent graduate of Atlantic High School.
Dan Beaman, owner
I grew up in Southwest Iowa as a mechanic/farmer's son and NEVER thought I'd be a "suit and tie" type of person. I'm really not...it's just what I wear here. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English/Education with a theatre minor and taught high school for 3 years. (Hated it!!) I got into the jewelry business in Sioux City, Iowa in 1986 as a manager trainee and moved to Sioux Falls as a store manager in 1987. Within 2 weeks of starting in the business, I knew I'd be in it in some form the rest of my life. I got my Gemology degree from the Gemological Institute of America in 1992. In the summer of 1995, I was contacted by Harold Hanke about buying his business. Over a period of a few months, we worked out the details and took over in November 1995. We changed the name in '98 and here we are.
Beka
Beka is our newest addition and we think you'll love her. She has this wonderful, sunny disposition and LOVES jewelry. Ask her about her favorite items!! She's a sophomore in HS and is active in FCCLA (forensics) and won a silver medal for Star Events and got to go to state for that. Welcome her to our kind of madness. She fits right in.
Daniels Fine Jewelry was "founded" in 1995, but not as Daniels. This used to be Hanke Jewelry Inc. When Penny and I bought the store in November of 1995, we chose to keep the name at first. After a couple years, we realized that many thought that we just managed it for Hanke. That's when we went through a redecorating process and changed the name to Daniels Fine Jewelry.
So why Daniels instead of Beaman our last name? Frankly, it just sounded better. Thus are earth shaking decisions made! We've had to learn a bunch as I had never owned my own business. We've made mistakes, but we're still here. My best friend often says, "Live and learn and hope you can afford your mistakes."
We are Christians and try to run our business on those principles. Like anybody else, we sometimes mess up, so bear with us and please tell us what you think, good and bad!

Kim Boes
Kim is our full time addition to the fun! She's been married to Jeremy since 1998 and has one child, Alexis. She's also been a Daniels customer since before that. Kim is an Iowa State graduate with a degree in hotel/restaurant management. We love her smile and care of you, our customers. You can have all kinds of fun with Kim's humor, sense of style and taste.
